Membership

Annual membership runs from 1 April to 31 March

We’re happy to have you join us as a member of the Hauraki Ice Racing Club. You only need to apply once and pay the annual fee to maintain your membership — which gives you access to paying member’s rates for your ice session and hire equipment.

If you’re visiting us, you’ll need to pay the casual rate for joining in on our training sessions.

NOTE: There is no charge for non-skaters, which includes coaches, officials, and parents/guardians of skaters.

A passport or birth certificate must be uploaded for all skaters.

MISSED LESSONS

Skaters are permitted up to two make-up sessions per term for sessions missed due to sickness, injury, or for other reasonable reasons. These must take place within a few weeks of the skater being absent and must be communicated with the board by the contact form or by email.

Hire speed skates

Term 2 2023 – Sunday

This product is simply to make up miscellaneous payments in $1 increments.

Take a look around and you’ll notice that most of our skaters wear skates they have hired from the club. Why? Because speed skates cost a lot and feet often continue to grow until people are 16-18 years old. Purchasing second-hand or new skates is mostly recommended for the more competitive skaters who skate all sessions and travel to competitions. And once their feet stop growing, these skaters tend to get either semi-custom or custom-made boots specifically for their feet. The hire fee includes boots, blades and:
  • a set of blade guards for protecting blades when walking in the boots to and from the ice – do not leave them on your skates as this causes rust to build up
  • a set of soakers to transport your skates home and minimise the effect of condensation on the blades after skating and protecting them from rubbing up against other objects
PAYMENT OPTIONS: If cash flow is a concern, we have different payment options available. However, the annual hire rate is the most cost-effective (saves you more money). $95 per year, $80 for 3 terms, $65 for 2 terms and $40 for 1 term

This is the Hauraki Ice Racing Club team uniform that must be worn at sanctioned events. We recommend you wear them at training too, as speed skating is what they are designed for! Please wash your skin suit regularly and hang it out to dry. These suits do not have any cut-resistance properties. For older and faster skaters, we highly recommend you wear a special speed skating cut-proof suit under your Hauraki skin suit. TIP: Look super cool by wearing your protective gear under your skin suit.
